New to the EV world? Don’t let the terminology confuse you. Sorting out which charger is best for you is easier than you might think.
Let’s start with Level 3 charging. More commonly known as DC Fast Charging, Level 3 is the fastest type of EV charging and is normally available at public charging stations. DC chargers, such as the Spark DC Hub and Spoke System can charge an EV to about 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. Our innovative Spark Mobile App allows you to locate any DC public charging stations, help plan a road trip, or simply find a charge any time you are away from your home
charger.
Level 1 and Level 2 chargers—also known as AC Chargers—are for residential use. If you are looking for a home charger, you are likely considering a Level 1 or Level 2 AC charger.
Level 1
A Level 1 charger plugs into a standard 120V household outlet, and offers the slowest charging speed, adding about four miles of range per hour on average. For some EVs, it can take up to 20 hours to fully charge a battery. Level 1 AC chargers are best for EVs that will be
charged overnight, or for Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) with smaller batteries.

Level 2 Charger
Level 2 chargers, such as the Spark 40A NEMA Charger, uses a 240V outlet, and offer significantly faster charging speeds than a Level 1 charger, approximately 10-20 miles of range per hour on average.

For even faster charging speeds, EV owners can opt for Level 2 AC chargers with higher amperage ratings, such as the Spark AC 48A and 80A Hardwired Chargers. These Level 2 chargers can charge much faster due to their higher capacity, and because they are hardwired into your home’s electrical system by a professional installer. Owners can expect a full charge in 4-8 hours, or about 32 to 50 miles of range an hour, with Spark’s innovative hardwired AC chargers.

The SparkMobile App
The Spark Mobile App, allows you to easily plan, program and monitor charging day and night to ensure optimum charging. On the road, you can find charging stations easily and customize your search to find specific chargers and charging speeds. Our Spark Mobile App also allows you to track your charging activity and history, create your own charging schedule, set utility energy rates specific to your area, and even track your energy costs through detailed energy consumption data
