1. Pick your charger
The 40A plug-in model installs on a NEMA 14-50 outlet; 48A and 80A models are hardwired for the fastest charge rates.
2. Book a licensed electrician
Any licensed electrician can install Spark. It’s a standard job, and we answer installer questions directly.
3. Install & inspect
Your electrician mounts the unit, runs the wiring and handles any permit or inspection your region requires.
4. Plug in & pair
Connect to Wi-Fi, pair the Spark App and start charging. Schedules, reminders and usage tracking included.

Installation questions
Should I choose plug-in or hardwired?
Plug-in (NEMA 14-50) is the simplest install and lets you take the charger with you if you move. Hardwired supports higher amperage, including 48 A and 80 A, for the fastest home charging. Your electrician can advise based on your panel.
Do I need a panel upgrade?
Not always. Your electrician will do a load calculation. Many 100 A panels can support a 40 A charger, while higher-amperage units may need spare capacity or a service upgrade.
Can Spark chargers be installed outdoors?
Spark AC chargers are built for Canadian weather and can be installed outside. Check your model's spec sheet for its exact enclosure rating.
How long does installation take?
A straightforward install near the panel is typically done in a few hours. Longer wiring runs or permit requirements can add time. Your electrician will quote it up front.
Is there a rebate for installation?
Often, yes. Many federal and provincial programs cover a share of installation costs. See grants & rebates.
